In their first appearance back at the Droughtmaster National Bull Sale since rebranding their stud to the new look SC Droughtmasters, the Farmer family, Canoona, had every reason to smile.
The family’s 23-month-old bull, SC Leeroy, sold for an impressive $60,000 on day one of the sale when he was purchased by Kylie Graham and Mat Durkin, Mungalla stud, Taroom.
It was the fourth top price of the sale and was the perfect way to return to Gracemere for the family who were previously known as Comanche Droughtmaster stud.
“We picked him out as a weaner, Hamish did (my son),” Steve Farmer said.
“We wanted to rebrand with a standout.”
Leeroy, a son of Cashmere Leeroy, weighed 862 kilograms with an eye muscle area of 142 square cm and scrotal circumference of 44cm.
Buyer Kylie Graham said he had caught their eye during pre-sale inspections.
“Hopefully we will be selling his progeny at the MAGS sale in the future,” she said.
In total, the Farmer family sold four bulls to average $21,500.
